READ IT OR WEEP
Having just returned from the National Speakers Association mid-winter conference, where I met and listened to the authors of three of my favorite books.
I want to share these three book titles with you, since I don’t believe they are on our Reading Revolution list yet, and then I wanted to mention another book that I don’t think made the list but every business person should read before they go into business. Ready?
1) “Made to Stick” by Chip Heath. It’s about how to get your message to “stick” in the marketplace. This is a must read for every business person, whether you are a Fortune 100 company, or you are a solo-preneur. It is entertaining, short and to the point, simple and impactful, full of examples and 6 easy steps to make sure your marketing ideas and dollars impact the market. Please read it. It’s easy to find: (it has a piece of duct tape on the cover!)
2) “QBQ!” by John G. Miller. About personal accountability. The QBQ stands for the Question behind the Question, and like “Made to Stick”, it is simple, direct, and gets the point across. This book is one of those that CEOs will buy and give a copy to everyone in the company. It’s very short, 115 pages to be exact. It has impact like “The Fred Factor” and “Who Moved My Cheese?”. This book could literally transform the world if everyone read it and took it to heart.
3) “Focus on the Good Stuff” by Mike Robbins. This book is bright red, and it is about the Power of Appreciation.
Mike is in his thirties, and one of the most generous, kind, and powerful men I have every met. He is already working on his second book, and I guarantee it will be great! I met Mike this past summer just when this book was coming out and it has spread like wildfire! Reading it will help you become the person you need to be to run your business and your life successfully.
And one more book I don’t think made our Reading Revolution list, yet I have ALL my clients read it.
“The E-Myth” revisited, by Michael Gerber. It is about why most small businesses don’t make it and what to do about it. Everyone needs to read this book BEFORE going into business, and at least once every 24 months after being in business. If you haven’t read this one in a while, grab a copy of it and read it. It applies to so many of the problems small business owners face.
I have many more free books to give away, so send me the title of any book(s) that have made a positive difference in your life or business, and I will send you a free book! Remember, if we don’t keep the world reading, who will? Let’s keep the world’s collective brains from turning to mush!! Let’s pump some mental iron this week…….. read something worthwhile! I look forward to your comments!!
